Wow saxophone fans, check out this GORGEOUS Super Balanced Action alto! The 55xxx serial number dates this horn to 1954 where it was hand made in Paris, France. Horns in this serial range are some of the last Super Balanced Actions made before production of the Mark VI began. These are some of the most sought after Selmers. They are free blowing, have fantastic intonation, and have one of the warmest and roundest sounds. This particular SBA's neck unfortunately doesn’t have the matching serial number to the body tube but it certainly is an original SBA Alto Neck with the original lacquer. The serial number of the neck is 43xxx which we believe to be an excellent match to the horns characteristics and sound! Otherwise, this alto is in fantastic shape. No bottom bow damage and so much of the beautiful original dark cellulose lacquer remains. This horn just finished a full professional overhaul from our shop where it was fitted brand new pads, corks, and felts. This horn needs absolutely nothing and is ready for gigging!
