Just into our shop is this absolutely gorgeous Buffet Super Dynaction (SDA) alto saxophone. The serial number of this horn dates it back to around 1962, when it was produced in Paris, France. These horns are known for being great players and have gained desirability because of their quality. This particular alto retains much of its original lacquer, and it hasn’t started to speckle yet—a common tendency with the lacquer used on these horns.
There are no major dents or scratches on this horn, especially in critical areas like the bottom bow and the rooster. The neck was slightly pulled down when it came to us, but we professionally repaired it, restoring the neck to the correct shape and angle with no resulting lacquer loss. This alto also features a mix of older and newer pads, all carefully inspected by us to ensure they play and seal as they should. It’s not often you come across Buffet altos in such excellent condition!
